Anna Maie Cheek was born in Mississippi, United States, on 1 December 1892, to parents John Gregory and Josephine Cox. She was married to Dr. W. Carey Cheek, who passed away in 1951.

Her hobbies included gardening, flower arranging, and playing bridge, and was known to be an avid traveler throughout much of her life. She was a member of the Greene County Medical Society Alliance, PEO, and the Southern Club.

She passed away in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri, United States on 1 January 2003, aged 110 years, 32 days.
