Andrea Lattari was born in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, on 10 January 1908. He earned a degree in economics and commerce. Sometime in his youth, he joined the Carabinieri. During the North African campaign in World War II, he served in the Special Information Services aboard ships.
After transitioning to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held various diplomatic positions throughout his career. His final assignment was in Poland, where he served until 1973. It was there that he met and married his wife, Danuta, that same year.
Andrea Lattari passed away in Desenzano del Garda, Lombardy, on 29 May 2018, at the age of 110 years, 139 days. He was survived by his wife Danuta, his son Lello, and his grandchildren.
Following the passing of 111-year-old Valerio Piroddi (13 November 1905 – 18 September 2017), he became the oldest living man in Italy, at the age of 109 years, 251 days. Upon his own passing, he was succeeded by Lorenzo Berzero.
