BIOGRAPHY

Petersen was born in Hampton, Nebraska, USA, on 5 October 1901.

In 1924, she married Rev. Spener Petersen. Her husband was knighted by the King of Denmark before his passing in 1961. For the next 50 years, she and her only daughter, Donna, an artist with the San Francisco Opera Co. for 27 seasons, shared a home.

Petersen was a member of St. Francis Lutheran Church, and at the time, the oldest member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Pacific Musical Society, the Women’s Musicians Club, and the Danish American Women’s Club.

Petersen passed away at her home in San Francisco, California, USA, on 11 October 2011, at the age of 110 years, 6 days.
