BIOGRAPHY

Moulthrop was born in Shamrock, Callaway County, Missouri, USA, on 15 November 1858, to parents Thomas Lingan MacCubbin (1822–1913) and Elizabeth M. Shoemaker (1830–1925). She had 10 siblings.

At some point, she married William Birch Henry Moulthrop (1854–1944). The couple had at least three children: R.E. Moulthrop, Lynn Herbert Moulthrop (1897–1985), and Grace Lowe. She lived most of her life in her 6-room Auxvasse home. She also lived in Kansas City, St. Louis and Burlington (Iowa). She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Auxvasse Christian church.

On her 100th birthday, she celebrated with an open house, declining all offers of assistance in planning the occasion. She stated that she was still fully capable of making her own plans. As of her 103rd birthday, she was still living independently in her own home in Auxvasse, Callaway County. At the time, she was still alert, active, her eyesight was still good, but her hearing was not too acute. She continued to manage her own household chores and cooking, as well as attending to her garden. Her grandson shared that she could still paint her house up to a height she could reach without the need for a ladder. At some point, she moved to the Callaway County Rest Home at Fulton, following an injury.

Moulthrop passed away in Fulton, Missouri, USA, on 24 November 1968, at the age of 110 years, 9 days. It was reported that she fell ill with pneumonia on November 16th, one day after celebrating her 110th birthday. She was survived by three children, 10 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
