BIOGRAPHY

Alfred Fregosi was born in San Francisco, California, USA to Italian immigrant parents Joseph and Virginia Fregosi. He attended Balboa High School, where  he was on the honor roll and played both baseball and soccer. His parents started a business called J. Fregosi and Son Florist, which he would eventually inherit, continuing the company for several decades until his retirement.

In addition to his family floristry business, Fregosi pitched for a city league baseball team, and worked for Bank of America. He also served in the Navy on Okinawa in World War II, later making him the oldest (known) living veteran in the United States.

He married Blanche Victoria Crandall in 1944, and the couple chose to move to San Mateo, California a few years later. They enjoyed traveling, and would often spend winters in Hawaii. His favorite hobbies included golfing and gardening. After his wife become terminally ill, he became her caretaker until her death in 2010, following 66 years of marriage.
