Aki Iizuka [Japanese: 飯塚アキ] was a Japanese supercentenarian.
Aki Iizuka (飯塚アキ) was born in Fujioka Town (now Tochigi City), Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, on September 11, 1900.
She had six children and was blessed with about 40 descendants, including grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
At the age of 110, she was living at home with the family of her eldest son, sharing a household of six. She was not picky about food and especially enjoyed inari sushi. For breakfast each morning, she always had a raw egg and pickled shallots. When she was feeling well, she liked to tidy up her dressing table and wardrobe, and she spent time relaxing with her family in the living room. She never suffered from any major illness throughout her life, and she attributed her longevity to being optimistic and living at her own pace.
On February 18, 2010, following the passing of Aki Onozaki of Yaita at the age of 111, Iizuka became the oldest living person in Tochigi Prefecture.
She passed away from natural causes in Fujioka Town, Tochigi City, on January 20, 2011, at the age of 110 years and 131 days. After her death, Chiyo Morita of Oyama City succeeded her as the prefecture’s oldest living person.
Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 3 March 2011 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
