Ada Miller was born in Southampton, Hampshire, England, on 12 December 1903, to to Harry and Annie Cooper. Her family—consisting of her mother, half-brother William, and sister Kathleen—moved to Hudson, when Cooper was just three months old to join her father, Harry, a trained landscape gardener employed by James Ellsworth on his “Evamere” estate.
She went on to dedicate 75 years to the family florist business. In 1938, she was elected to the Hudson School Board, where she served for 40 years, including 24 years as president (1954–1978). She also coordinated floral arrangements for weddings, dances, Western Reserve Academy, the Hudson Garden Club, and Christ Church Episcopal. In recognition of her contributions, the natatorium at East Woods Elementary School was named in her honor.
At some point, she married Lloyd A. Miller (1900–1968), and the couple had at least one daughter, Nancy Anne Rodgers.
Ada Miller passed away in Hudson, Ohio, on 16 February 2016, at the age of 111 years, 66 days.
