Abbie Grayson (née Simmons) was an American supercentenarian.
Abbie Grayson was born in Tuskegee, Alabama, USA, on 29 April 1904. Her parents were John B. Simmons (1876–1964) and Emma Simmons (1889–1948). She attended Tuskegee Institute, graduating in 1922 with a degree in psychology, before moving to Montgomery to start a family.
Abbie married John Grayson, an Alabama contractor, and together they had five children—three sons and two daughters—with Art being the youngest.
Over the years, she received numerous recognitions and awards from President Barack Obama, Governor Robert Bentley, Senators Jeff Sessions and Richard Shelby, and Congresswoman Terri Sewell.
Abbie Grayson passed away in Birmingham, Alabama, on 10 December 2014, at the age of 110 years, 220 days.
