Jeanne Marie Henriette Chabbert (née Durand) was a French supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) and recognised by LongeviQuest (LQ).

BIOGRAPHY

Jeanne Chabbert was born in the commune of Mazamet in the Tarn department, Occitanie, France, on 1 August 1909. Her parents were Charles Élisée Durand (born 1875) and Marie Emma Eulalie Ilhe (born 1879). She had at least one siblings, Gabrielle Marie Eugénie (1905–1985). On 18 December 1919, following the death of her father during World War I, she was officially designated as “Adoptée par la Nation” (“Adopted by the Nation”). This formal recognition in France honors children whose parents have died in service to the country. It signifies that the nation assumes a symbolic responsibility for their welfare, acknowledging their personal loss as a collective sacrifice for the country.

On 24 September 1934, at the age of 25, she married Michel Antonin Chabbert (1905–1985). The couple had at least four children: Bernard, Anne-Marie, Michèle, and Françoise.

Jeanne Chabbert passed away in Mazamet, Tarn, Occitanie, France, on 10 February 2022, at the age of 112 years, 193 days. She was survived by her four children, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters.

RECOGNITION

Chabbert’s age was verified by Cyril Depoudent (Les Grands Centenaires Français) and validated by the ESO on 8 November 2020.
