Jō Makihara (牧原志) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and recognized by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Makihara was born in Japan on 26 January 1908.

Makihara died in Gamagori, Aichi Prefecture, Japan at the age of 112 years, 17 days. She was posthumously validated by the GRG on 19 January 2023.

RECOGNITION

In September 2018, she was reported as the fourth-oldest person in Aichi Prefecture, behind Shimoe Akiyama and two anonymous women. On 29 January 2019, three days after her 111th birthday, she became the oldest person in Aichi Prefecture following Akiyama’s death.
