Modesta Villalobos Brito is a Mexican supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS) and recognized by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Villalobos Brito was born in Guerrero, Mexico on 15 June 1914. She was the third of eight siblings (all deceased). Due to the Mexican revolution, her family emigrated to the community of Sabino Alto. She did not attend school.

She married Ángel Contreras at the age of 19 and emigrated to the community of Pata de Venado, General Canuto A. Neri municipality. She had eight children, four of whom survive. After 12 years of marriage, she was widowed in 1946, and as she was left alone to raise her children, she worked in the field crops and as a grinder woman. She also worked as a midwife and a massage therapist. Among her activities, she knows the process of making artisanal “mother of cocoa” soap.

Villalobos Brito currently lives in the community of Sabino Alto, Guerrero, Mexico.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Fabrizio Villatoro, Stefan Maglov and Gabriel Ainsworth, and validated by the LAS on 17 June 2022.
