BIOGRAPHY

Harue Kunitomi was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, on 12 February 1907. After she got a job at a spinning company, she moved to Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. At some point, she got married and had five children.

Around the age of 100, she enjoyed watching TV, especially sumo wrestling. When asked about the secret of her longevity, she said: “Don’t complain.”

Kunitomi was born in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, Japan, on 15 August 2018, at the age of 111.

RECOGNITION

Three days before her 100th birthday, her prefectural and city officials visited her home to celebrate her longevity.

On 8 April 2018, following the death of 114-year-old Yoshiyo Bessho, she became the oldest living person in Okayama Prefecture.

Upon her death, Kano Ebara succeeded her as the oldest living person in Okayama Prefecture.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yumi Yamamoto, and validated by LongeviQuest on 13 July 2023.
