BIOGRAPHY
Lois Maxine McGarvey was born in Niles, Michigan, USA, on 22 August 1916. She spend most of her childhood in small towns in Ohio and Michigan. She moved as a teen to Dearborn, and has lived the rest of her life in Dearborn, Lincoln Park, and Livonia.
She married Hazen McGarvey in August 1934, and they raised four children of their own, and also took in three foster children who have remained a part of the family. She and her family were raised as Christians, nearly all of her descendants (more than 100 of them) are active Christians today.
She was active for most of her life in the First Baptist Church of Dearborn, working with children, singing in the choir, and serving on the diaconate, even in her 80s. She loved relating to and raising children, but in her later years ministered to the elderly as well. She has always been an encourager of others, with a positive and cheerful disposition. On 11 August 2026, over 100 of her descendants came from ten different states for a reunion and celebration of her 110th birthday.
