Fründt was born in Schneverdingen, a city in Lower Saxony’s Heidekreis district. She attended secondary school in nearby Soltau. She married Alfred Hoppe and had one daughter, Renate, in 1939.
Her first husband died during World War II, leaving Fründt a widow. In 1949, she married her second husband and moved to the town of Zeven, where they operated a delicatessen together. She was a keen swimmer.
At the age of 106, Fründt still lived in her home that she moved into in the 1950s; care workers visited her regularly. As a supercentenarian, she was reported to be in good health.
