Heroina Rivero Peñaranda was a Colombian supercentenarian.
Heroina Rivero Peñaranda was born in Tomarrazón, La Guajira Department, Colombia, on 5 March 1904 (claimed 1903). According to her family, she was a cheerful, talkative, and lively young woman who never missed a carnival. Her father, a musician, was descended from a Cuban family that had settled in Colombia. She especially enjoyed playing the tambora. She had 13 children. Later in life, she lost her vision due to glaucoma.
By her 111th birthday, only three of her children were still alive. At that time, she also had four great-great-great-grandchildren. Despite her age, her appetite remained strong—she ate everything. Her favorite dish was oatmeal, whether raw or cooked, though she was always happy to eat a plain bun with yuca at any time.
Heroina Rivero Peñaranda passed away in Riohacha, La Guajira Department, Colombia, on 20 May 2015, at the age of 111 years, 76 days.
Her age was verified by Santiago García Medina and Fabrizio Villatoro, and was listed as pending validation by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS) organization as of 18 June 2021.
