Nellie Brown was born in Coleyville, Manchester Parish, Jamaica, on 2 August 1913. At some point, she moved to the United Kingdom.
On 25 March 2015, she met another centenarian, Irene Sinclair, who was 106 at the time and would later become a supercentenarian.
Nellie Brown passed away in Hackney, London, England, on 31 May 2025, at the age of 111 years, 302 days.

Her age was verified by Andrew Holmes and Rob Campbell, and validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) on 29 June 2025.
