Jeannette Germain was a Canadian supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Jeannette Germain was born in Sainte-Thècle, Quebec, Canada, on 21 March 1915. In her youth, she planted and harvested potatoes. At the age of 16, she began working as a “hired girl,” taking the place of women who were expecting children.

She married at 20, and two years later, she and her husband moved to the Christ-Roy district of Shawinigan. Her husband built their home himself. When the house eventually became too small for their growing family, he built them another. Together, they raised 10 children. She sewed and knitted clothes for her family, and for a time, she also worked at the Lafrance general store.

At 108 years old, she still enjoyed playing bingo and attending mass. She loved music in all its forms. She said that her greatest pride was having kept her family united.

Jeannette Germain passed away in Shawinigan, Quebec, on 2 August 2025, at the age of 110 years, 134 days. She was survived by eight of her children (Marie-Paule, Mariette, Aline, Lise, Réjeanne, Claude, Michel, and Monique), as well as 24 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 45 great-great-grandchildren.
