Marie-Josèphe Daguzan (née Gravère) was a French supercentenarian.
Marie-Josèphe Daguzan was born in the commune of Fleurance in the Gers department in southwestern France, on 21 March 1906. Her parents were Émile Jean Gravère (1875–1954) and Marguerite Françoise Lucante (1877–1955). She was born in her grandmother’s home on Allées de la Vignette. Her paternal grandfather, Pierre Gravére, was a wine merchant. At the age of 12, while boarding in Auch, she contracted the devastating Spanish flu—but survived.
On 1 September 1925, at the age of 19, she married Constant Marius Étienne Daguzan (1898–1992) in Fleurance. The couple had four children: Françoise, Pierre Etienne Alexandre, Jeanne, and Lucienne.
Naturally caring, she looked after the well-being of her grandmother, mother-in-law, and later her own parents, all while maintaining an active social life as both a landowner and a businesswoman.
At 110, she was still able to eat independently, though she did require daily care from a nurse and a physiotherapist.
Marie-Josèphe Daguzan passed away in the commune of Fleurance in the Gers department in southwestern France, on 29 December 2016, at the age of 110 years, 283 days. At the time of her passing, she had 35 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Daguzan’s age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).
