Georgette Désirée Volton (née Rouzeau) was a French supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Georgette Volton was born in the commune of Les Aix-d’Angillon in the Cher department in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France, on 10 July 1904. Her parents were Léon Marie Eugène Rouzeau (1878–1914) and Marie Françoise Pillet (1883–1961). She had at least two siblings: Marguerite Louise Augustine (1907–1954) and Jean Pierre (1911–2011).

On 3 June 1922, she married Emile Marcel Volton (1901–1988). Her husband once served as mayor of the town, and a street was later named in her honor. She had no children.

At the age of 110, it was reported that she had been an active participant in Vallières community activities for many years. Just a few months earlier, she had even joined a gym class, where the instructor invited her to play ball. Despite her advanced age, she was in good health apart from her deafness, and she moved about independently with only the aid of a cane.

Georgette Volton passed away in Les Aix-d’Angillon, on 29 November 2015, at the age of 111 years, 142 days.

RECOGNITION

Volton’s age was verified by the members of Les Grands Centenaires Français, and was validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) on 6 June 2023.
