Sato Kawaida [Japanese: 河井田さと] was a Japanese supercentenarian. At the time of death, she was the oldest living person in Miyazaki Prefecture.

BIOGRAPHY

Sato Kawaida (河井田さと) was born in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, on December 2, 1902.

After marriage, she moved to Manchuria. Near the end of World War II, she returned to Japan and, in 1952, settled in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture. At the age of 109, she had four children, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Until around the age of 105, she lived at home and enjoyed tending to the flowers in her garden every day. Following the death of Takeno Sakata of Hinokage, aged 110, on March 24, 2012, Kawaida became the oldest living person in Miyazaki Prefecture. She passed away from natural causes at a hospital in Miyazaki City on December 26, 2013, at the age of 111 years and 24 days.

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 10 September 2013 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
