Toku Yamaguchi (Japanese: 山口トク) was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Fukushima Prefecture at the time of her passing.

BIOGRAPHY

Toku Yamaguchi (山口トク) was born in Japan on May 24, 1899.

At the age of 110, she was living in a nursing home in Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture. She was known for her gentle and thoughtful personality—she often showed concern for the staff, exchanged sweets with other elderly residents, welcomed visitors with a smile, and waved goodbye as they left. Despite her advanced age, she remained lively and alert. Her greatest joy at the time was spending time with her family during their visits.

Following the passing of 110-year-old Kō Inabayashi of Kōriyama City on February 27, 2009, Yamaguchi became the oldest living person in Fukushima Prefecture.

She passed away from pneumonia at a hospital in Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture, on January 17, 2010, at the age of 110 years and 238 days.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 18 October 2009 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
