Anne Marie Jeanne Catherine Simone Sola (née Gaillard) was a French supercentenarian.
Simone Sola was born in the commune of Bayon in the Gironde department, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, on 28 May 1909. She moved to Bergerac in the 1930s with her first husband. Later, in 1939, she remarried Jean, a carpenter by trade. In 1947, she settled into the house where she would spend the rest of her life.
According to her granddaughter Laurence, she was an excellent cook, known for her delicious sweetbreads and snails. She was also an avid football fan who never missed a World Cup or European Cup match and passionately supported FC Girondins de Bordeaux. In addition to her love of cooking and football, she had a deep affection for flowers.
Simone Sola passed away in Bergerac in the Dordogne department, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, on 11 January 2020, at the age of 110 years, 228 days.
Her age was verified by members of Les Grands Centenaires Français, and validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) on 17 February 2024. This validation is yet to be recognized by LongeviQuest.
