Crescencia Galán Medina was a Spanish supercentenarian who was one of the oldest living people in Spain at the time of her death.

BIOGRAPHY

Crescencia Galán Medina was born in Ciudad Real, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain on 13 October 1914. She got married in 1942 and had children.

In June 2024, she was visited by Dr. Manuel de la Peña, President of the European Institute of Health and Social Welfare. During the clinical interview, Dr. de la Peña was pleasantly surprised when she remarked, “We are the same.” Her lifestyle included healthy, balanced eating—she had a particular love for chocolate—maintaining a healthy weight, and staying mentally active by reading magazines. She also followed a daily 20-minute gymnastics routine with enthusiasm and enjoyed playing bingo. At the age of 109, she had well-controlled blood pressure, measured at 122/78. Her HDL cholesterol was 85, while her LDL cholesterol was 65, indicating strong protection against cardiovascular events such as stroke or myocardial infarction. Dr. de la Peña was convinced that she possessed genes associated with longevity and attributed her vitality to her healthy lifestyle habits.

Galán Medina passed away in Daimiel, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, on 3 March 2026, at the age of 111 years, 141 days.
