Marie-Claudine Fourrier

BIOGRAPHY

Fourrier was born in the commune of Prizy in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France, on 10 September 1910. She married Pierre Fourrier in 1931 and moved to Cluny, where she worked as an accountant at the Cabaton salting company. She had no children and was widowed in 1980.

Fourrier was a local municipal councilor and an active member of the Friends of Cluny, an organization dedicated to preserving, restoring, and promoting the local Cluny Abbey and its associated historical heritage. Even in her later years, she remained attentive, staying interested in current events and passionate about playing belote. In 2012, a fractured femur compelled her to leave her apartment and move into the nursing home in Bonnay.

Fourrier passed away in Bonnay, Saône-et-Loire, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France, on 1 February 2021, at the age of 110 years, 144 days.

RECOGNITION

At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest (known) living resident of the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, after Madeleine Thomas.

Her age was validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) on 25 May 2024. However, this validation has not yet been recognized by LongeviQuest.
