Sayo Taminato [Japanese: 田港小夜] was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

BIOGRAPHY

Sayo Taminato was born in Wakugawa, Nakijin, Kunigami District, Okinawa, Japan on 15 October 1906.

After losing her husband in the Second World War, she ran a small store and raised four sons and three daughters.

Until the age of 100, reading a newspaper was her daily routine.

Sayo Taminato died at a nursing home in Nakijin, Okinawa, Japan on 7 August 2020 at the age of 113 years, 297 days.

RECOGNITION

In September 2019, Taminato was reported to be the second-oldest living person in Okinawa Prefecture, behind Kame Ganeko.

Following the death of Kame Ganeko on 18 October 2019, she became the oldest living person in Okinawa Prefecture.

Sayo Taminato was validated by GRG JAPAN on July 22, 2021.
