Germaine Fuzeau was a French supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Fuzeau was born in the commune of Mazerolles, Vienne department, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, on 16 February 1914. Her father, a flour miller, died shortly before her birth and her mother had to work as a nanny in Paris to provide for their family’s needs.

When she was 25 years old and the Second World War had just started, she was living with her grandparents who ran the inn Le Lion d’Or, located in Mazerolles. Before getting married, she worked as a seamstress.

In 1933, she married Georges Fuzeau and the couple had a son together. After getting married, she became a grain producer so that she could help her husband who maintained gardens and properties. The couple also raised a child refugee from Moselle after World War II.

In 2003, Fuzeau’s husband passed away; a decade later, she moved to a nursing home. At the age of 110, she had three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She died on 14 August 2024 at the age of 110 years, 180 days.
