Gabrielle Suzanne Rambaud was an Algerian-born French supercentenarian who was the oldest living person born in present-day Algeria. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) and recognised by LongeviQuest (LQ).

BIOGRAPHY

Rambaud was born on 14 March 1897 in Rouïba, Algiers, which was part of French Algeria until Algeria’s independence in 1962. She never married.

Rambaud died in Flayosc, located in the department of Var, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, on 31 January 2008 at the age of 110 years, 323 days.

RECOGNITION

Rambaud was the oldest person born in present-day Algeria for an unknown amount of time. Upon her death, the title passed to Réunion resident Maria Diaz.

Rambaud’s age was verified by Cyril Depoudent of Les Grands Centenaires Français, and was validated by the ESO on 9 May 2022.
