Tsuneyo Toyonaga (豊永 常代 Toyonaga Tsuneyo) was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Japan from the death of Shitsu Nakano on 19 August 2007 until her own death.

BIOGRAPHY

Tsuneyo Toyonaga was born in Tano, Kochi, Japan on 21 May 1894. Before her death, Toyonaga was living in the town of Tano in Kochi Prefecture on the island of Shikoku. Toyonaga died in Nankoku, Kochi, Japan on 22 February 2008 at the age of 113 years, 277 days. She is currently the oldest validated person ever from Kochi Prefecture.

RECOGNITION

She was also the fifth-oldest validated living person in the world following the death of fellow 113-year-old Bertha Fry on 14 November 2007. At the time of her death, she was one of the 90 oldest validated people ever.
