Tane Yonekura [Japanese: 米倉タ子] was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group. She was the oldest living person in Kagoshima prefecture from the death of Nabi Tajima on 21 April 2018 until her own death on 19 May 2018.

BIOGRAPHY

Tane Yonekura was born in Japan on 2 May 1904.

Yonekura witnessed the 1914 Sakurajima volcanic eruption, the most powerful volcanic eruption in Japan during the 20th century. She was 10 years old at the time of the eruption.

On her 110th birthday in 2014, Yonekura was still walking with the help of a walker and exercised every day. She received a certificate for being the oldest person in Kagoshima City. She died on 19 May 2018 at the age of 114 years, 17 days. At the time of her death, she lived with her daughter Michiko.

RECOGNITION

She became the oldest person in Kagoshima Prefecture following the death of Nabi Tajima on 21 April 2018.

 

She is currently the third-oldest validated person ever from Kagoshima Prefecture, behind Nabi Tajima and Suekiku Miyanaga.
