Hisa Tokumoto (徳本 ヒサ) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group and recognized by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Hisa Tokumoto was born in Kumage (now Shūnan City), Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan on February 25, 1896. Tokumoto lived with her granddaughter and her family in Shūnan City before moving into a nursing home for the elderly in 1999 around the age of 103.

In September 2004, at the age of 108, Tokumoto was visited by the city mayor and awarded with a congratulatory blanket in celebration of Respect for the Aged Day. She was the oldest person in Yamaguchi Prefecture at the time of the visit. At age 108, she reportedly spent a lot of time sleeping, but had a hearty appetite and enjoyed drinking tangerine juice.

In September 2007, a special longevity celebration event, attended by approximately 70 of the home’s residents and the city mayor, was held at Tokumoto’s nursing home in celebration of Respect for the Aged Day. She was awarded congratulatory gifts and a bouquet of flowers, and enjoyed a performance on the biwa, a traditional Japanese instrument, by a musician. At the age of 111, she reportedly ate three meals per day, and finished all of her food when her condition permitted it.

Hisa Tokumoto passed away at her nursing home in Shūnan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan on November 27, 2007 at the age of 111 years, 275 days.
