When Lucy was around 102 years old, she broke her hip. Moreover, upon her 110th birthday celebration, she was made known as one of the earliest supercentenarians in West Virginia.

Lucy Reynolds passed away on 14 July 1983 in Spencer, West Virginia, USA.

Tokie was born on 5 June 1912 in Japan.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Mitsuno Sawada at 111 years old. She is a Japanese supercentenarian known as the oldest living person in Shimane Prefecture.

Mitsuno Sawada was born on 1 January 1912 in Japan.

Reports showed that she exhibits great talent for poetry. A proof of this is when she won a first prize in the Tanka (Japanese short poetry) contest at the Shimane Prefecture Cultural Festival. She won the prize twice, in 1982 and in 1997.

 

On 21 June 2021, she became the oldest living person in Shimane Prefecture at age 109 when Fumi Fujiwara passed away. On the same year, she was anonymously reported as the oldest in the prefecture during the Respect for the Aged Day 2021 (Keiro no Hi). In 2022, her name was finally revealed.

LongeviQuest is delighted to announce the age validation of Nobu Kōno at 112 years old. She is a Japanese supercentenarian recognized as the oldest living person in Kanagawa Ward, Yokohama City. She was also reported as the second-oldest living person in Kanagawa Prefecture

Nobu Kōno was born on 28 March 1911 in Omitama, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.

After she graduated from elementary school, she spent her time working as a babysitter in a mansion in Tokyo. It was a common practice among Japanese girls during that era.

Around 21 years old, Nobu got married to someone and went on to have five children.

She reiterated many hardships that her family had to endure during World War II. She experienced having the need to plant sweet potatoes and other vegetables on Tsurumi Riverbed because of lack in food supplies. They also had to evacuate to Yamanashi when the Kanagawa Air Raid emerged. After the war, her family returned to Kanagawa where she focused on raising her children as a housewife.

She started to live independently after her husband passed away in 1978. Her home was situated on top of a steep hill that she needed to climb daily which made her legs and hips stronger. However, when she was 105 years old, she got aspiration pneumonia which forced her to move into a nursing home. At age 112, she is still capable of feeding herself without any assistance.

Nobu Kōno currently lives in Kanagawa Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. In September 2023, she was recognized as the oldest living person in Kanagawa Ward, Yokohama City.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Orphea Mattsfield at 110 years old. She was an American supercentenarian known as the third-oldest living person in Minnesota, USA, at the time of her death.

Orphea Mattsfield was born on 5 November 1911 in Ellsworth Township, Meeker County, Minnesota, USA.

On 31 August 1932, she was married to Henry William Mattsfield and the two of them settled on the family farm. This is where they would raise livestock and cultivate various crops until they retire in 1978. Orphea also worked for the local US Department of Agriculture office for twelve years. After the couple retired from farming, they sold the farm and relocated to a second home.

In 1997, the couple moved to Emmaus Place Senior Housing in Litchfield. Unfortunately, just two before they can celebrate their 74th wedding anniversary, her husband passed away in 2006.

Orphea Mattsfield passed away on 21 November 2021 in Litchfield, Minnesota, USA. She was 110 years old and recognized as the third-oldest living person in Minnesota at the time of her death.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of James Holt at 111 years old. He was an American supercentenarian born on 25 December 1865.

He was born in Edwards, Illinois, USA, to parents Joseph and Martha Pelham Holt. James and his three brothers were sent to Cannon, Tennessee after their parents passed away in 1868 which made them young orphans.

He was already living independently at the age of 13 years old where he would work and travel throughout multiple states in the 1870s. According to him, he lived with the chief of a Native American tribe in Missouri for several years before he went to work as a cowboy in Oklahoma 1889 Land Rush.

James married Clara Hyder on 1 November 1899 in Lamar, Missouri. The couple had five children together. Their marriage went on for 38 years just before Clara died in 1937. He was remarried to another woman who also died 18 years later after the wedding.

In his later years, James began living with one of his daughters in Oklahoma City.

James Holt passed away on 7 January 1977 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. He was 111 years and 13 days old at the time of his death.

Fumie Matsuda was born on 31 March 1911 in Japan. Throughout her life, she maintained her religious practices in Buddhism by singing hymns like “Baikaryu Ei Sanka.”

In June 2011, the elderly club from her neighborhood organized a park golf tournament to celebrate Matsuda’s longevity. It was her first time playing the game but was able to sink the ball into the hole placed 20 feet away. Her immediate reaction after achieving a birdie was, “It’s addictive.”

In September 2018, Matsuda was officially recognized as the oldest person in the Ishikari Promotion Bureau of Hokkaido Prefecture at age 107. Recently, it was claimed that she was the third-oldest living person in Hokkaido Prefecture.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Hiro Matsumoto at 112 years old. She is a Japanese supercentenarian recognized as the oldest living person in Chiba Prefecture.

Hiro Matsumoto was born on 9 September 1911 in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

At some point in her life, she married a fisherman and had one son with him. After World War II, she would push a handcart around town to sell the fish that her husband caught. Her son grew up and also entered the fishing industry alongside his father.

The couple loved shopping and traveling together until her husband died at the age of 92. After this, she maintained an active routine of walking to strengthen her legs because she did not want to inconvenience her son and grandchildren.

At the age of 112 years old, Mrs. Matsumoto was still able to maneuver her own wheelchair while also requiring minimal assistance from the nursing home staff.
