Brown married her husband on 28 May 1938 and had two daughters. In the 1960s, she moved to Oberlin, Ohio with her husband. After her husband’s passing in 1990, she moved to Texas to live with her daughter Kristine, who died in 2015. Brown, then aged 102, moved to a retirement facility in Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, to be closer to her daughter Bonnie, who resided in Massachusetts.

At the time of her 108th birthday in 2021, Brown had five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She attributed taking cod liver oil daily as a secret to her longevity. At age 109, her hearing had deteriorated, but was still reported to be in perfect health. At her age of 110, she is considered as New Hampshire’s oldest known resident.
