It is with great pleasure for LongeviQuest to share that Isabel Barletta recently celebrated her 112th birthday. She is an Argentine supercentenarian known as the oldest living person in the country.

Isabel Barletta was born on 12 September 1911 in a house on Primera Junta Street, Flores, Buenos Aires, Argentina, to an Italian immigrant father and an Argentine mother. Her family later moved on to José Martí Street to a house that her father and brothers had built.

On her 112th birthday in 2023.

She graduated from elementary school on Francisco Bilbao Street. After this, she continued her studies in Art History, drawing, and painting at the Fernando Fader School.

When asked about her secret on having an old age, she talked about having respect to other people as we are all equally made by God.

On 1 September 2022 and 2023, the prefectural governor presented her with a congratulatory letter and a gift after becoming the oldest living president in Wakayama Prefecture.

She is currently residing in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Kikuyo Honma at age 112 years old. She is a Japanese supercentenarian known as the current oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture.

Kikuyo Honma was born on 1 November 1910 in Nunobe, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

She was married to a charcoal burner and climbed the mountain every day to assist her husband in charcoal production. She was also tending to various crops in the fields while helping her husband. Unfortunately, her husband was a casualty in World War II in 1945 at the young age of 34. This forced Kikuyo to raise their four young children alone.

Kikuyo Honma played gateball as a hobby when she was around her 60s up until the age of 97 years old. She also enjoyed regular trips to nearby hot springs in the area together with her gateball friends.

At age 100, she broke her right femur. The good news is that she recovered her ability to walk after three weeks. However, she was forced to move into a nursing home after breaking her left femur.

At age 112, it was shared by her family that Kikuyo Honma was still able to move her wheelchair around as well as feed herself.

When Chitetsu Watanabe passed away on 23 February 2020, Kikuyo Honma became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

She is currently residing in Nunobe, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

It is with great delight for LongeviQuest to share that the oldest person in Croatia turned 109 years old. Grandmother Mara Gabelica is a Croatian centenarian known as the current oldest living person in the country.

Mara Gabelica was born on 8 September 1914 in the village of Ivangegovina, Split-Dalmatia County, Austria-Hungary (which is known as Croatia in the present day.)

She married her first and only love, Anta Gabelica, in 1932 in the village of Podbablje. Mara was only 17 years old at the time of the wedding while her husband was 12 years older than her. The couple had two daughters and two sons. In 1953, they moved to Zmijavci, Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia. Two years later, her husband passed away in 1955 so Mara was left a widow.

On 8 May 2022, Mara became the oldest living person in the country after 108-year-old Andjela Sostaric died.

Mara Bagelica currently resides in the village of Zmijavci, municipality of Zmijavci, Split-Dalmatia, Croatia.

LongeviQuest is delighted to announce the age validation of Tsuneji Ōyama at age 110. He is known as the oldest man ever in Saga Prefecture as well as the first supercentenarian from the area.

Tsuneji Ōyama was born on 9 January 1913 in Kiyama, Saga Prefecture, Japan.

At age 30, Ōyama left his two young daughters and wife when he was drafted and dispatched to China in 1943. Just before the war ends, he came back to Japan after being ordered to safeguard the mainland. Unfortunately, he was afflicted with a kidney disease that caused widespread body swelling.

In his 70s, he also battled heart and prostate complications but later made a complete recovery from it. He transferred to an aged care institution with rehabilitation facilities in December 2019. Until he was 100 years old, he can still drive cars and light trucks for his work in the fields. Moreover, until March 2023, he was still able to walk by using a walker.

Tsuneji Ōyama currently resides in Kiyama, Saga Prefecture, Japan. On 23 July 2019, he was recognized as the oldest living man in the prefecture when Tetsuo Shiki passed away. Three years later, he was able to surpass Shiki’s final age to make him the oldest man ever in Saga Prefecture.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Yuriko Tsurumaru at 110 years old. She is a Japanese supercentenarian known as the current oldest living person in Miyazaki Prefecture.
Yuriko Tsurumaru was born on 14 July 1913 in Japan.
When she was 36 years old, she lost her husband, so she had to raise their four children alone while working as a teacher.

When asked about her secret to having a long life, Tsurumaru answered living in peace and eating a lot. At the age of 106 years old, she already had six great-grandchildren. She was recognized as the oldest living person in Miyazaki Prefecture on 19 August 2023 after Yone Kawabata passed away.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Fuji Takashima at 112 years old. She is a Japanese supercentenarian born on 15 August 1911 in the village of Kotsubo (Zushi City), Kanagawa Prefecture.

When she was 12 years old, her mother died due to typhoid fever in 1923 so she took care of her youngest brother at that time. Her other siblings were either placed in relatives’ homes or put in a hospital.

On 1 September 1923, the Great Kanto Earthquake shook the land while she was feeding her youngest brother. The siblings wanted to wait for the shaking to cease but the ground around them started to fracture. The two of them escaped into the beach nearby but then the fishermen in the area shouted that there was a tsunami that would come their way. Fuji Takashima carried her brother up to the hill to avoid the tsunami. Finally, they managed to find refuge in a temple cemetery where they stayed for three days and nights while fighting hunger and thirst. She shared this story at an elementary school in Zushi City when she was 93 years old.

Takashima moved to Kamakura from Zushi City in 1941 during the emergence of the war. She stayed in Tokyo after getting married.

When she was 80 years old, she relocated to the area of Yokosuka City in Kanagawa Prefecture where her nephew lived.

LongeviQuest is delighted to share that Australia’s oldest living person, Catherina Van Der Linden, turns 111 years old. She is a Dutch-Australian supercentenarian known as the oldest living Dutch-born person as well as the oldest person in Australia. Catherina Van Der Linden was born on 26 August 1912 in Amersfoort, Utrecht, Netherlands, as Catharina Adriana van Meegen. She grew up in Nijmegen, Gelderland.
Three days before her 28th birthday, Catherina married Johannes (John) Wouterus van der Linden on 23 August 1940. The couple had four children together. She spent her life working as a grape picker, nursing assistant, typist, and clerical assistant.

In 1955, she emigrated to Australia with her husband. However, she felt homesick, so she took their four children and returned to the Netherlands in 1958. After 18 months, the family returned to Australia and permanently settled in Adelaide.
Catherina van der Linden is currently residing in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, where she is recognized as the oldest living person in the country.
