Porter passed away in West Memphis, Arkansas, USA, on 18 July 2023, at the age of 111 years, 60 days. At the time of her passing, she was the oldest known living person in the U.S. state of Arkansas.

She worked for many years with the Internal Revenue Service and later served as a secretary at Brookley Field.

At 109, Porter celebrated at Somerby Senior Living Center, surrounded by friends and faith. She credited her long life to her devotion to Catholicism. Porter continued attending church regularly until she was 107.

They shared their success with family, supported their church, and traveled the world, with a soft spot for Paris. Even in her nursing home, Porter stayed connected to her Detroit roots, cherishing church visits and a 110th birthday bash with loved ones.
