Rosita Montecillo-Codilla was born in Sogod, Cebu, Philippines on 1 June 1910 (claimed 14 June 1909). She was crowned Miss Sogod on 7 September 1927.

At some point she got married and had four children. She moved to Talisay after marriage.

When asked about the secret of her longevity, she said “A plate of boiled vegetable every day.” Her husband died at the age of 96, and her mother apparently died at the age of 116. In September 2017, she lived with her last surviving daughter, who was aged 75 at the time.

Montecillo-Codilla died in Talisay, Cebu, Philippines on 5 January 2021 at the age of 110 years, 219 days (claimed age of 111 years, 205 days).
