Haru Murai was a validated Japanese supercentenarian.

Biography

Haru Murai was born in Japan on 08 March 1908. She had six children, three boys and three girls, whom she raised while working on a farm.

On her 100th birthday, Haru was visited at her home by the city mayor, who awarded her with a silver cup and a congratulatory letter to celebrate her old age. Her children and grandchildren were present. When presented with the gifts, she said “All this for me? You shouldn’t have. Thank you.”

Haru enjoyed tending to the flowers in her garden. When asked about the secret to long life, she replied with “Eating well.” She ate three meals a day.

Haru Murai passed away on 26 July 2020 in Uozu City, Toyama Prefecture at the age of 112 years, 145 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest person in Toyama Prefecture.
