Ellison was born in Anoka, Minnesota, USA, on 16 May 1908, to parents Richard Parrott and Henrietta Searl. She had five sisters and three brothers. She grew up in Pollock, South Dakota and graduated from Pollock High School in 1926. She then graduated from Normal school in Ellendale, North Dakota in 1928 and taught 9 years in rural schools in North and South Dakota.
In 1937, she moved with her family to the U.S. state of Washington. After raising her family, she earned Bachelor of Arts degree from Pacific Lutheran University and taught for 14 years in the Sumner Washington School District. She was a member of the congregation of Faith Covenant Church (previously Sumner Presbyterian Church) for 67 years. Her husband passed away in 1965. [source]
In her later life, Ellison lived in a retirement home in Puyallup, Washington.
Ellison passed away in Puyallup, Washington, USA, on 25 March 2020, at the age of 111 years, 314 days. She was survived by two sons, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. [source]
At the time of death, she was the second-oldest (known) living person in the U.S. state of Washington, after Ruth Apilado, who was only 16 days older.
