Carmen Góngora de Yaggi

Carmen Góngora de Yaggi was an Argentine supercentenarian, the earliest validated supercentenarian from Latin America. Her age was validated by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS).

Biography

Carmen Góngora de Yaggi was born in the street of Calle 4 de Enero, Santa Fe City, Santa Fe Province, Argentina on 21 September 1857.

In 1880, she married Daniel Emilio Yaggi, a rancher born in Switzerland. The couple had 10 children. Following the death of her husband, she returned to the city of Santa Fe in 1908.

At the age of 107, she was still very lucid, she was able to help with the cleaning of her house, she was still able to sew and read without any difficulty. At that time, she lived with her daughter, Ercilia Yaggi de Ascención.

Gongora de Yaggi died in Santa Fe City, Santa Fe Province, Argentina on 3 June 1968 at the age of 110 years, 256 days.
