Gattuso was born in Bova, Calabria, Italy, on 26 July 1888.
On 19 May 1921, she married Andrew Gattuso. The couple moved to Olean, New York, and went on to have six children (five sons and one daughter). Three of her sons, Bruno, Ralph and Steven, predeceased her. In 1960, she moved to California to live with her son, Dominic.
Gattuso passed away in Canoga Park, Los Angeles County, California, USA, on 25 October 1998, at the age of 110 years, 91 days. She was survived by two sons, Andrew and Dominic, her daughter Antoinette Ingleright, as well as 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her age was validated by the ESO on 19 September 2021.
