Tsuyano Watanabe (綿奈部ツヤノ) was born in Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture, Japan, on February 20, 1896.
She had two children, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Around the age of 104, she moved into a nursing home after injuring her leg. She had a cheerful personality and was friendly with everyone, which made her well-liked by those around her. She was also strict about manners and expressed her opinions clearly—qualities her family believed contributed to her longevity.
Watanabe became the oldest living person in Tokushima Prefecture on November 6, 2003. She passed away in Komatsushima City, Tokushima Prefecture, Japan, on May 14, 2007, at the age of 111 years and 83 days.
