Tomo Satō (Japanese: 佐藤トモ) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.
100 years old. (Source: Directory of Centenarians, 1999 Edition).
Tomo Satō (佐藤トモ) was born in Japan on 5 March 1899. She ran a small dagashi shop, selling inexpensive snacks for children, until the age of 98 and spent time with neighborhood children.
By the time she turned 100, she was living with her eldest son. Although walking had become difficult, she made a point of sitting in a chair during meals to avoid becoming bedridden. Attending day service once a week was also one of her enjoyments.
On 14 July 2009, Satō passed away from natural causes at a hospital in Kajiki Town at the age of 110 years and 131 days.
Her age was verified by MHLW, Japan, Ryohei Asano and Yumi Yamamoto, and validated by LongeviQuest on 23 December 2025.
