Tome Sagara [Japanese: 相樂とめ] was a Japanese supercentenarian.
Tome Sagara (相樂とめ) was born in Shigaraki, Kōka City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, on August 10, 1901, and lived there her entire life.
When her children were still young, she lost her husband and raised them on her own, working day and night to support her family. During the war, due to food shortages, she is said to have occasionally caught loaches in the river to feed her children.
By the age of 110, she was mostly confined to her bed, but she continued to wake up at 7 a.m. and ate all three meals each day without fail.
Sagara passed away from natural causes on July 10, 2012, at the age of 110 years and 335 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Shiga Prefecture.
Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 28 January 2012 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
