Sizue Matsueda was born in Japan on 23 November 1906.
At the age of 100, she credited her longevity to maintaining her regular daily routine—shopping, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, and pulling weeds in the garden. She also mentioned that she ate vinegar-based dishes every day and enjoyed chatting with her tea-time companions.
Even at 108, she continued to live at home with her family.
Matsueda passed away of natural causes at a hospital in Kirishima City on 17 January 2017, at the age of 110 years, 55 days.
In 2014, at the age of 107, she became the oldest living person in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture.
At the time of her death, she was the fourth-oldest living person in Kagoshima Prefecture, following Nabi Tajima, Tane Yonekura, and Shizue Nakayama.
Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 4 August 2025.
