Rose Campos was born in Bousfer, Oran, Algeria (then French Algeria), on 9 May 1908. She was of Catalan descent. At some point, she got married. Her husband, a winemaker by profession, was a widower with two children when he married her. Together, they had five children—two sons and three daughters.
Campos lived peacefully among the vineyards, 20 kilometers from Oran, surrounded by her large family. In 1962, they relocated to Metropolitan France, settling first in Gaillac, where they ran a small farm. At times, up to seventeen people—friends and family—lived together under one roof. When her husband grew too old and no one wanted to take over the farm, he decided to sell it. Rose, her husband, and their daughter Marie-Jeanne, then moved near Rouen. Her husband passed away in 1973. Over the years, she traveled to Israel, Italy, Austria, and Spain.
At the age of 100, she moved into a nursing home. As of 2013, Rose had 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Rose Campos passed away in Feyzin, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, on 25 October 2018, at the age of 110 years, 169 days.
Her age was validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) on 22 December 2023. The validation has not yet been recognized by LongeviQuest.
