BIOGRAPHY

Leduc was born in Nantes, Loire-Atlantique, Pays de la Loire, France, on 6 April 1914. She was a fragile child. Her two older sisters died very young from tuberculosis, and she herself had spent time in a sanatorium. During the winters, she regularly caught the flu.

Her husband Francis worked as a tracer in the shipyards, while she was an accountant at the Primary Health Insurance Fund. The couple had only one child, a son born in 1936. During World War II, both continued to work, but later took refuge north of Nantes, at the Nantes Children’s School. After retirement, they traveled around Europe and visited places such as Tunisia, Morocco, and Moscow.

At the age of 99, she had to undergo emergency wisdom teeth surgery. At the age of 100, she still took the bus alone to go to her card club. In 2021, she moved into a retirement home in Challans. Prior to that, she was still living in her home in Nantes, in a third-floor apartment without an elevator. After spending 30 years with her, her housekeeper and home helper retired and returned to Portugal. She could no longer stay at home alone. When she arrived at the retirement home, a blood test revealed that she had previously had COVID. At the age of 108, she had two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
