BIOGRAPHY

Miyae Nishiyama was born in Japan on 10 January 1896.

At some point, Nishiyama entered a nursing home for the elderly. While here, it was said that she was not picky with food, slept well, happily participated in nursing home events such as karaoke, and occasionally told jokes.

Miyae Nishiyama passed away in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, on 16 January 2008, at the age of 112 years, 6 days.

RECOGNITION

On 30 November 2005, following the death of 109-year-old Hiromi Minakata of Wakayama City, she became the oldest living person in Wakayama Prefecture.

At the time of death, she was the second-oldest person to ever live in Wakayama Prefecture, only after Hide Ohira. Upon her passing, she was succeeded as Wakayama Prefecture’s oldest living person by Yanoe Yamamoto (12 March 1899 – 17 October 2008) of Wakayama City.
