Maude Snyder was born in Clear Spring, Maryland, USA, on 11 November 1875, to parents Abraham T. Renner (1844–1922) and Amanda M. Smith (1850–1907). She had three younger sisters: Mamie Rhodes (1877–1958), Emma Renner (1880–1952), and Bessie Chrisman (1881–1959). During her youth, she helped with chores around the family farm after school. In 1897, she married farmer Isaac Clayton Snyder (1876–1952), and together they had seven sons.
For the last 14–15 years of her life, she lived in Williamsport with her son, Gene, and his wife, Vada. Despite having a leg amputated in her late 90s due to poor circulation, she remained in remarkably good health even at the age of 110. She spent much of her time in a second-floor bedroom, often sitting in a rocking chair. Being blind in one eye and having limited vision in the other, she was no longer able to read.
Maude Snyder passed away in the Western Maryland Center in Hagerstown, Maryland, on 3 September 1986, at the age of 110 years, 296 days. She was survived by three of her sons, 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Her age was verified by Jimmy Lindberg and Stefan Maglov, and validated by LongeviQuest on 25 February 2025.
