Marie-Renée Gautier was born in the commune of La Bruffière in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region in western France, on 30 June 1906. She was into a farming family with six children.
She entered the congregation at the age of 20 and received the religious habit seven years later. From 1936 to 1975, she worked as a teacher, beginning in Rochefort-sur-Loire, where she remained until the end of World War II. She then continued her educational mission in La Meilleraie-Tillay and La Gaubretière, before moving to Cholet, where she served as head of the Notre-Dame-du-Bretonnais school from 1949 to 1963.
A year before retiring, she returned to Torfou, where she continued her work in the household management school. At the age of 69, she retired to the Sainte-Marie motherhouse, where she spent her final years in prayer and community life.
Marie-Renée Gautier passed away in the commune of Sèvremoine in the Maine-et-Loire department of western France, on 9 February 2017, at the age of 110 years, 224 days.
Her age was validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation. This validation is yet to be recognized by LongeviQuest.
