Louise Leroy was born in Georgia, USA, on 30 March 1908, the second of eight children born to parents Stanberry Wheeler and Francis Dean. She had five brothers: Alfred Wheeler, Beck Wheeler, Edward Wheeler, Campbell Wheeler, and Murphy Wheeler; as well as two sisters, Evelyn Taylor and Dorothy Cox. She received her early education in the public schools of Murray County, Georgia, and attended high school in Rome, Georgia. For a time, she taught in the Murray County public school system.
Louise married Hugh LeRoy on 23 March 1946. The couple had no children. Louise became a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church at a young age and remained a devoted member. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, she joined Zion Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Levi Terrill Sr., where she was an active and dedicated member. She participated in Sunday School, the Sisterhood, the Baptist Young People’s Union (BYPU), The March Club, and the Missionary Society. She was employed by the Rounsaville family for more than 50 years.
Louise Leroy passed away in Marietta, Georgia, on 15 January 2019, at the age of 110 years, 291 days.
