Kayo Miyazaki (Japanese: 宮﨑かよ) was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Shizuoka Prefecture at the time of her passing.

BIOGRAPHY

Kayo Miyazaki (宮﨑かよ) was born on September 17, 1897, in Hamamatsumachi (now Konyamachi), Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, to a family that ran a rice shop.

She eventually took over the family rice business and later settled in Higashimikata Town, Kita Ward, Hamamatsu City, where she spent her later years. In her final years, she enjoyed watching professional sumo wrestling on television and had a fondness for meat dishes.

On the morning of January 29, 2008, she did not wake up at her usual time. A doctor was called for a house visit and diagnosed her with a stroke. She passed away on February 8, 2008, at the age of 110 years and 144 days.

At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Shizuoka Prefecture. Following her passing, Ura Karasawa succeeded her as the prefecture’s oldest living resident.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 27 February 2008 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
